Heading back to Alabama, red hair and all

Friday, 13 October 2006

Well, my short visit is over. I’m going to have to hand over my car keys tomorrow (sniffle), and I’m getting on a plane to go back home. I’ll be renting a car for the three more days I’ll be there, and then off to Baghdad . . . wow. Time is going quickly.

Anyway, my time has been fairly unproductive here, but I did get some plug adaptors (convertors?) for my laptop and iPod, and I picked up a couple new books, and I now have shorter and much, MUCH redder hair.

Didn't mean to make it a close-upYes, spurred on by my success last time I tried coloring my hair, I decided to go with the semi-permanent color once more. However, they didn’t have the exact brand and color that I’d used before, so I looked at the competing brand, and my mom picked up a box and said, “this is a great color–this was it, right?”

And I happily agreed. However, once it all came out, actually as I was rinsing it, I noticed that there was a distinct marachino-cherry cast to the individual strands of my hair that was unusual . . . and when I came out and looked at it I was rather . . . amazed. :) But it’s fun and interesting to have such red, red hair, and since it’s not a permanent color it will fade out eventually. My mom loves it and keeps telling me how great it is while my dad says that every time he looks up at me he experiences cognitive dissonance.

Fun with mirrors

But anyway, enough about the girly subject of my new haircolor. I haven’t had a lot of connection to the outside world for the last few days so my ability to say much of interest is diminished. Besides, when it comes down to the last few days like this, I tend to get duller and duller in my ability to express myself verbally. Bear with me–once I know where I am and what I’m doing I’ll be a much more interesting person once more!
