. . . And I’m packing–again

Friday, 6 October 2006

Ahhh, this has been my life for the past few months! But this is the second-to-last round of travel before I’m settled into a new location. I hope that once there, I’ll stay in place for a while. All this unsettled stuff has gotten a little wearing . . . I find that today, I’m very lackadaisical about packing. I’ve got the cat carriers down and open on the floor (my cats still avoid them like the plague, so I’m sure that it’ll be a feat to get them into their respective places tomorrow morning), and I’ve got some of the stuff together that I need to take with me, but I think this one is going to be a matter of throwing stuff together and hoping I’ve got everything I need. Anyway, when one goes to visit friends and family, it’s not as much of a big deal as having all the right stuff for training, like my last trip.

The promised feverishness hasn’t set in from my typhoid shot, thank goodness–I do feel a little off, but only tired and sort of spacey, and that could very well be knowing that I’ve only got a week and a half to go. Or less, at this point. We’ll see. Anyway, I’m traveling about 12 hours tomorrow, out to Texas to see a friend from school, and then after stopping there for a day or two, I’ll complete the trip to Arizona to see my family. My poor cats are going to make this one with me! (The high-strung cat, Azrael, will howl miserably for the first hour, I predict, and then lapse into an embittered silence when he realizes this is his life for the foreseeable future. The other cat, Grimalkin, loves chaos and change and all of that, so she is generally quite placid, even happy when we travel together. However, when Azrael gets to howling it throws her off and once in a while she’ll chime in, too. Such fun traveling companions they are!!!)

Anyway, I probably shouldn’t spend too much time online tonight, since I’ve still got a bit of stuff to do, and I should leave as early as possible. However, no heroic 3 a.m. beginnings for me tomorrow!!!
