I didn’t think I needed a reminder, but I did.
This is why I called the recruiter on 9/13/01. What happened that day should not have happened. People cannot be allowed to do this. And because not everyone has the will, the resolve, or the desire to go out and stop this from happening again–or to punish the perpetrators of such an act–those of us who do have to. This kind of thing is wrong. We cannot stand idly by and let it happen–to do so makes us complicit.
We’re not omniscient nor omnipotent, and we’ve made mistakes in our attempt to do what is right–but we’ve done something. And that is what makes the difference. That is why I joined the military.
